Hannover – the capital of European Exhibitions and city of contrasts, in which the modernity is seamlessly intertwined with the history of more than eight centuries, with the change of rulers and events. «Hohen Ufer» (in German «the high bank») – here, on the high marsh bank of the river Leine there was one village, which then will be destined to become the capital of Lower Saxony.

Where else you can visit the world famous opera house and to have a good time in the not less famous zoo; to have a marvelous supper in the Old Town Hall, built more than five hundred years ago, and relax during the exciting walk on the many exhibition halls?
Even the museums in Hannover fancifully combine the elements of past and present. Thus in Sprengel Museum you will be able not only to get acquainted with the great works of surrealists, expressionists and Dadaists, but also admire the beauty of the architectural ensemble of the museum building. In Sprengel Museum you will find the works of such famous artists as Picasso, Kurt Shviters, Malevich, Klee and others. But in Kestner museum you can fully immerse yourself in the ancient art. Here you can find plenty of art works of the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans and Etruscan, as well as various handicrafts, dating from the period of the middle ages until the present day. It is also interesting, however, that the building of this museum, which looks quite modern, was build, in fact, more than 120 years ago.
If you suddenly find yourself near the New Town Hall, be sure to visit the Museum of Lower Saxony. Here you will be presented four large departments, each of which covers a separate subject. Thus, the first exhibition is devoted to sculpture, the second – to painting, and the third one includes all that connected with natural history in one way or another. Don’t miss the aquarium, which is part of the second exposition, however, zoological and geological parts of the exhibition will also be very interesting for you. The fourth department is fully devoted to the ethnological exhibition; here you will find a wide variety of unusual items, which were brought to the museum from all over the world!
If you have arrived in Hannover in summer, you are really lucky! You will have an opportunity fully enjoy the pride of Hannover – a large garden in Herrenhausen, which was laid down more than three centuries ago! Once upon a time this is where the summer residence of the Dukes of Hanover, but to the modern day reached only gallery and greenery. But the palace was destroyed during the war, as well as 85% of the entire city of Hannover. It is in summer time particularly musical and theatrical performances can be seen in the garden, as well you can enjoy the entertainment fireworks, which local residents especially love to give to the guests of the city.

However, in Hannover there is a very developed transport infrastructure that the distance from the center doesn’t play any role, so why do you need to pay more? But, as it is a matter of taste, the final choice is entirely up to you!
